Premier podium pour Fernando Alonso en rallye-raid

Fernando Alonso et Marc Coma (Toyota) ramènent leur première coupe depuis le début de leur association en rallye-raid. Le duo espagnol a terminé l’Al-Ula Neom Rally 2019 à la troisième place après la quatrième et dernière étape, samedi 8 novembre.

Cette compétition, disputée au nord-ouest de l’Arabie saoudite, constituait le dernier essai en conditions de course de l’ancien pilote de Formuła 1. Sur le Toyota Hilux 4×4, le double vainqueur sortant des 24 godziny Le Mans finit derrière ses équipiers et vainqueurs Yazeed Al-Rajhi-Konstantin Zhiltsov et Yasir Bin Seaidan-François Cazalet (Mini).

Le retard de l’Asturien par rapport au vainqueur saoudien est de 16’20’’ après 1 400 km de parcours ; Fernando Alonso a également profité de l’abandon sur souci mécanique de Khalid Al-Qassimi (Peugeot).
